Fort Bragg Celebrates National Trails Day

Fort Bragg undoubtedly has some of the most beautiful trails in the United States and the city was looking to celebrate. National Trails Day took place on June 4th and there was plenty to do. In the spirit of celebration, Fort Bragg also opened new coastal trails that have been a long time in the making.

The main celebration was held on the Southern Coastal Trail and brought together much of Fort Bragg’s community. Entertainment including performances by Circus Mecca and live music from various bands. The United States Coast Guard put on an ocean rescue demonstration and a Paul Bunyan logging demonstration was open to the public.

Attendees also celebrated the opening of the Noyo Center for Marine Science’s “Crow’s Nest.” The North Coast Brewing Company hosted a beer garden and all proceeds went towards the Noyo Center.

To top it all off, a Blue Whale skeleton was put on display.

The new coastal trails stretch five miles and offer ocean views, benches made by local artists, and more. Complete with habitat restoration, the entirety of the park is now open to all public visitors.

Although the event lasted just four hours, it was one to remember!
