The firefighters of Fayetteville, North Carolina, have traded in their fire suits for aprons in their new show, “Cooking with Fire.” The Fayetteville firefighters cooking show teaches kitchen safety. It has become a big hit with the local residents.
“Cooking with Fire” gives the people of Fayetteville a look into the lives of the firefighters and lets them see what a firehouse kitchen is like. Angie Cimino-Locklear, the fire department’s Fire and Life Safety Educator, is the host. She brings on different firefighters to cook a meal and demonstrate different fire safety techniques.
Recently Cimino-Locklear teamed up with firefighter Corey Tedder to film two episodes on grilling, which featured meals like salmon and asparagus, hamburgers and corn, and roast potatoes. Tedder prepped the meal in the firehouse kitchen, and when it was time to grill the food they went outside to throw everything on the grill.
When the episode airs, it will include tips between scenes on fire safety focused on outdoor cooking. It especially focuses on what to do in the event of a grill fire. The viewer learns something valuable while having fun, and the firefighters get to have a good time and break out of the norm.
