The 2018 Honda All Stars Include the Civic Type R and Accord

2018 Honda Civic

2018 Honda Civic

If you’re looking for the 2018 Honda all stars, you should start with the Honda Accord and the Civic Type R. Both of these models were named “2018 Automobile All-Stars” by Automobile magazine, a list of some of the top cars in the industry. Automobile doesn’t distinguish between classes or price range, which means these two Honda models beat out some of the top supercars in the world, some well into six figures. The Accord and Civic Type R definitely offer incredible value and an unforgettable driving experience.

The Accord is well known among car shoppers, as this car offers incredible bang for your buck. The editors at Automobile noted the Accord was one of the few cars consistently ranked as one of the best cars on the road, in part because it is so affordable yet drivable. The Civic Type R caused a little more stir, as this newer model reached the top 10 list for the awards. However, this performance model is simply fun to drive, something that stands out among the competition.

“In my experience coming from the racing side of the automotive business, it is not normal to find a gaggle of journalists waxing lyrical about a vehicle that costs less than $35,000, especially when they have access to a bucket full of supercar keys and the green light on the racetrack,” wrote Andy Pilgrim, editor for Automobile.

And these are just some of the many awards the Civic Type R and Accord have earned in the past few months. Learn more about them at Bryan Honda!

How to Prepare Your Car for Spring Vehicle Maintenance

Car Maintenance

Car Maintenance

As winter’s rough weather and gloomy skies gives way to spring showers, it’s important to remember that now is as good a time as ever to get some routine spring vehicle maintenance done. Here are a few tips from Bryan Honda to help you keep your vehicle running smoothly as the weather warms up.

Schedule your routine maintenance. Your vehicle will need its regular check-up to keep it running smoothly, so make sure you keep up with the recommended service schedule listed in your owner’s manual.

Flush and refill your car’s cooling system. Regularly check the level, condition, and concentration of your cooling system’s coolant. This is especially important as temperatures start to rise.

Get your air conditioner checked out. Hot weather means it’s time to crank up the air conditioning in your car—but it’s hard to do so if your car’s AC isn’t working. Get your air conditioning unit serviced now, so you don’t have to drive without cool air during the squelching summer days.

Check your tire pressure. As the temperature changes, so does your tire pressure. Cold temperatures tend to make your tire pressure drop, and hot temperatures will cause it to rise. Make sure your tires aren’t over- or under-inflated, and keep them within your vehicle’s recommended pressure range.

Good Housekeeping Best New Cars Awards Goes to 2018 Accord and Odyssey

2018 Honda Accord

2018 Honda Accord

For the 2018 model year, both the Honda Accord and Odyssey underwent complete redesigns—and it looks like these redesigns have helped these vehicles make their mark on their segments. The 2018 Accord and Odyssey were both recently awarded top spots in the Good Housekeeping Best New Car Awards in the sedan and minivan classes, respectively.

The judges commended the Odyssey, which is in its fifth generation, for its family-friendly interior space, heightened performance, quite cabin, and connectivity. Specifically, they were awed by the vehicle’s CabinWatch™ and CabinTalk™ features that allow you to see what’s going on in the backseat.

For the Accord, the accolade was awarded in large part due to its spacious interior, large trunk, and superior standard safety features that will give you confidence while you’re out on the road. The sedan’s agile ride and impressive engine options were also both commended.

The Good Housekeeping Institute determined the winners of its Best New Car Awards through its partnership with Car & Driver magazine. This duo assessed hundreds of new vehicles, looking specifically at the assets drivers care about most including value, safety, reliability, interior design, comfort, technology, and handling.

Both the 2018 Accord and the 2018 Odyssey received the honors of appearing in the February issue of Good Housekeeping. Check out one or both of these models for yourself when you visit us at Bryan Honda.

New Fayetteville Homeless Shelter Opens, Gives Hope to the Homeless Population

A new homeless shelter opened in Fayetteville, North Carolina, earlier this month on March 14 and has proven especially helpful to local homeless men on cold nights. The shelter is made possible by Operation Inasmuch, an active non-profit in the community.

The 6500-square-foot facility has been in the works for three years, according to CBS North Carolina news, and its impressive quality shows that. The Inashmuch shelter was funded by the local community and has 40 beds, six bathrooms with hot showers, a kitchen, and a laundry room.

The homeless staying in the shelter are impressed with its quality and the opportunities it provides, letting them know about job opportunities like cashiering and truck driving as well as letting them wash their clothes and shower so they’re presentable for job interviews.

Stacy Sanders, who works with the county sheriff and has an office right in the homeless facility, is the go-to Fayetteville resident when it comes to the homeless population and has worked with the homeless for 13 years.

The shelter is open seven days a week, and they’re looking for volunteers, so if you’d like to help out, let them know. The staff of Bryan Honda are proud to be part of a community that supports people down on their luck with facilities and projects like Inasmuch.

Honda Little League Field Restoration in Houston

Honda Ridgeline - Fayetteville, NC

Using its versatile Ridgeline pickup truck, Honda has restored an OFA Little League Field in Houston that was damaged throughout 2016 by flooding. Honda donated $55,000 to the Honda Ridgeline Little League Community Project to get these facilities back up and running.

Honda performed a huge range of renovations and upgrades including regrading their fields, restoring their dugouts, replacing the protective netting, and installing new equipment for the concession stands. Local Honda dealers participated to make the renovations a
reality as well as volunteers and the Honda Ridgeline truck.

The Honda Little League project is a reflection of the long-standing relationship between Honda and Little League Baseball and Softball. Honda has been a Little League sponsor since 1996 and has donated more than $1.2 million to underfunded teams in the last 21 years. Susie Rossick, the Assistant Vice President of Honda Automobile Marketing, said that “Honda is dedicated to helping young people strive to pursue their dreams” through the Honda Ridgeline Little League Community Project.

The Ridgeline, which was named the 2017 North American Truck of the Year, is packed with design innovations like an in-bed trunk that makes it the perfect truck for projects like this one.

Honda’s Georgia Plant Receives $100 Million Investment

Honda’s Georgia Plant Receives $100 Million

When it comes to the minivan segment, the Honda Odyssey is a game-changer. With extremely thoughtful features like a rear-seat entertainment system, an in-van vacuum cleaner, and a 115V power outlet, there’s no doubt that this van is ahead of the curve. Yet, it’s about to become even more advanced, thanks to Honda’s investments in its northwest Georgia Plant.

When Honda’s Georgia plant receives $100 million in investments from Honda, it will be put towards developing the first-ever 10-speed automatic transmission for front-wheel drive vehicles. The first vehicle to receive the new 10-speed automatic transmission will be the 2018 Honda Odyssey. Later, the same transmission will go into other Honda and Acura vehicles, but for now the Honda-engineered transmission is getting tested on the minivan.

So, why the change? The new 10-speed automatic transmission is expected to greatly increase fuel efficiency as well as acceleration. It should also change gears more quickly, making highway driving more productive and responsive.

Over 18,000 Georgians are employed at automobile factories of some kind. Honda’s new transmission isn’t just good for its lineup, but it’s positive for the job market, too. We can wait to test it out at Bryan Honda, and invite you to join us as soon as it’s available to test drive.

Three Ways to Get Your Car Ready for Spring

Get Your Car Ready for Spring

At Bryan Honda, we find that there’s no better way to greet warm weather than with a fresh, clean car. Here are three tips on how to get your car ready for spring inside and out.

Pressure Wash

From the tires to the engine to the paint job, winter can take its toll on a vehicle. Road salt splashes up onto the sides and cakes on underneath. The salt can cause corrosion and rusting if it’s not cleaned off. Take your car to a car wash where you can use a pressure washer to clean the undercarriage of your vehicle. Rinse off any other areas, or wipe down with a gentle detergent and a soft towel.

Check Under the Hood

Your vehicle’s engine components might need some extra love and attention too, after working hard all winter. Check to make sure everything looks in order, and top off any fluids that may be low. Now is even a great time to get an oil change and have your mechanic give your car a good once-over.

Gain A Clear Perspective

Be ready for those April showers by replacing your wiper blades. Your windshield can be washed off with some glass cleaner. Afterwards, coat it in Rain-X, which will help make driving in heavy rain easier and safer.

How to Keep Your Car Running Forever – Or Seem Like It

Keep Your Car Running Forever

Keep Your Car Running

Are you the type to keep your car long after you’ve paid off your auto loan? Here are some tips to keep your vehicle running for what feels like forever.

Don’t Floor It

Accelerating quickly right when you put the keys in the ignition is a big no-no. When your engine is cold, that means the oil isn’t flowing properly yet, and forcing the mechanical parts to work hard right away means your engine is running with less lubricant – which means more damage in the long run.

Drive Calmly

The same way you shouldn’t put your pedal to the metal right away when you start your car, you also shouldn’t be slamming the brakes or quickly shifting from forward to reverse without coming to a full stop.

Follow the Service Schedule

I know, I know – getting your car checked so often is such a huge and seemingly unnecessary expense, but having your vehicle inspected regularly can catch damage before it becomes a much bigger – and more expensive – problem down the road.

Check Fluids and Tires Often

Gas, oil, coolant, brake fluid – all of these are crucial to keeping your vehicle in top working condition. It’s also recommended that you check tire pressure every other week, because improperly inflated tires can be hard on your car.

Listen to Your Car

Above all, trust yourself. You know what your car usually drives and sounds like. Listen for odd noises or any strange vibrations or clunks when driving; noticing the symptoms of a problem can prevent damage later on.

You can save a lot of money by holding onto the same vehicle for years. Keep your car in like-new condition by following these guidelines.
